Biggest ever turnout for Fambridge River Festival

Children - Joshua Searle Clacton Gazette

30 May 2017

The 2017 Fambridge River Festival has topped the previous editions by recording the largest footfall for the one-day free event, with over 500 visitors enjoying the warm weather and festivities in North Fambridge.

The 2017 festival saw a stellar line up of classic boats including VIC 96 paddle steamer, Thames Barges Ironsides and Centaur, Duet from the Cirdan Sailing Trust, Ocean Scout from Adventures Offshore, SY Cartel and Marigold from Marigold Charters. Gig racing took place on the River Crouch, superbly organised by our friends at SWF Yacht Club, and there were visits from the Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI, the Essex County Fire & Rescue Service and a liferaft demonstration from SEMS Aerosafe.

The boatyard was packed with exhbitors ranging from clothing and candy floss, to marine equipment, children's fairground games, jewellery and photography!

“It was a great day at the River Festival. There was lots going on, lots of visitors, and the weather was kind to us. It was a lovely informal atmosphere and a superb day all round.” - Festival Visitor

The Fambridge Yacht Haven team extend further thanks to the North Fambridge Sea Scouts, David and Marion, K & W & Daughters Driver Training Services for the loan of the lorry, SWF Yacht Club, Ormiston Rivers School for their fantastic music, Bruce & Tony for the sound equipment, BBC Radio Essex  and all the exhibitors and stallholders who helped create such a special event.

See you in 2018!
