Coastal Wales - Greatest region on earth
Coastal Wales has been named the greatest region on earth to
visit this year by Lonely Planet's Best in Travel 2012 publication.
And the opening of the Wales Coast Path in May will mean that Wales
will be one of the only countries in the world where visitors can
walk the entire coastline along waymarked trails - that's 870 miles
(1,400km) to explore.
It incorporates 1 Geopark, 1 Marine Nature Reserve, 2 National
Parks - Pembrokeshire Coast and Snowdonia, 3 Areas of Outstanding
Natural Beauty, 14 heritage coasts, 11 nature reserves and 24
castles, 4 of which are World Heritage Sites.
