The 145th Open Championship will be held at Royal Troon in July 2016 with the finest golfers from around the world coming to Ayrshire to try and win the famous Claret Jug.
2016 will see the world of golf return to Royal Troon having last visited in 2004. That year, Troon Yacht Haven was bustling with boats, sailors and golfing enthusiasts from around the world who wanted a prime marina location to walk to the golf course.
The best players in the world will be in Troon to play the historic links course in July 2016 including the likes of Rory Mcilroy, Tiger Woods, Jordan Speith and many others.
10th - 17th July 2016
Founded in 1878, Royal Troon Golf Club has earned an international reputation for being one of the most challenging and scenic links courses in the world. Overlooking Troon Beach and the Isle of Arran, changeable local conditions can turn this beautiful golf course into one of the most difficult and unforgiving places to play golf.
2016 will be the ninth time that Royal Troon has hosted the championship. In 2004, American veteran Todd Hamilton surprised the world by beating Ernie Else in a thrilling play-off. Previous Royal Troon winners include golfing legends Arnold Palmer (1962), Tom Wiskopf (1973), Tom Watson (1982), Mark Calcavecchia (1989) and Justin Leonard (1997)
" Royal Troon is one of the great golf courses in Scotland and certainly one that will stand well for the Open Championship", Arnold Palmer
