Fambridge is a popular 'final port' for sailors from the UK wanting to make the trip over to the Netherlands or mainland Europe. With a range of marine services on-site, a fully operational boatyard and good access to the channel, a lot of sailors use Fambridge as a holding location before making the trip when the weather is favourable.
Why sail to Netherlands?
The Delta, the collection of waterways that reach the coast in the south west of the Netherlands, is one of the most popular cruising grounds in Europe. The collection of stunning rivers provide over 1,000km of waterways to explore that extend through the Netherlands and into Belgium and Germany. Starting in the coastal area, Zeeland, the network of deepwater runs through Brabant and into the stunning Biesbosch National Park.
Sailing through the Netherlands mixes a contrast of peaceful sailing through rivers and vast in-land lakes, and the more challenging sailing around the south western coast.
Europe's largest in-land marina is Jachthaven Biesbosch in the Netherlands, part of the Yacht Havens Group. At 1,400 berths, the marina is a bustling centre for boating activity and it is located on the shores of the stunning Biesbosch National Park. As part of the Yacht Havens group, Fambridge Yacht Haven berth holders can receive 14 days free berthing at the marina.

When travelling from the UK to any other country, you will require up-to-date paperwork for the skipper, the entire crew and for the boat. This will include passports, boat registration documents, radio licence and, in some countries, boat insurance evidence.
