Largs Yacht Haven hosted a party on midsummer's night to celebrate the 40th birthday of the parent company, Yacht Havens Group.
Yacht Havens Group was founded in 1972 by Hems Kalis by building Lymington Yacht Haven on the Lymington River in Hampshire. At that time there were very few marinas in the UK and his pioneering work led on to further developments in England, Scotland and Wales. Yacht Havens Group is currently managed by Hems Kalis's grandson, Dylan, and owns 10 sites totalling 2500 marina berths and two dry stack centres.
Largs Yacht Haven was the second marina to be constructed in 1984 under Yacht Havens Group guidance. Largs has 730 berths and has been developed into the Clyde's leading yachting centre employing 110 full time staff. It is Scotland's only RYA Centre of Excellence and the first marina to be awarded TYHA's 5 gold anchor rating in Scotland.
The party was held in the new Euroyachts Boat Showroom, the latest addition to the Largs Yacht Haven facilities.
