Mary Falk, a berth holder of many years standing at the Lymington Yacht Haven, has just completed her 6th double-handed Round Britain & Ireland Race. The only others to have completed this race 6 times are Jerry Freeman, who was her co-skipper on this year's race, and Sir Robin Knox-Johnston. No-one has completed it more times.
Mary was the 5th to finish in the IRC class, no mean feat for one of the smaller boats in the race.
The race was part of Mary's QII Challenge, her aim to raise £100,000 for The Institute of Cancer Research through taking part in demanding short-handed races following her own gruelling but successful treatment for breast cancer in 2006. She has now raised an incredible £97,000 towards her ambitious target. To find out more, and to make a donation, please visit www.maryfalk.com
