Eighteen assistant marina managers, supervisors and foreman from the UK, Ireland, Croatia & Montenegro were given the opportunity to tour Lymington Yacht Haven and pick the brains of the Marina Director as part of their Intermediate Marina Management Course.
The course, which was run by the BMF in conjunction with The Yacht Harbour Association and Global Marina Institute, is widely recognised in the marina industry and is a stepping-stone to the Advanced level course. Completion of the advanced course is one of the requirements of becoming a Certificated Marina Manager (CMM).
As part of the course, the trainees visited Lymington Yacht Haven, a Five Gold Anchor Marina, to receive a tour and guidance from Marina Director Rupert Wagstaff. The trainees were able to quiz Rupert on various aspects of marina management including marina law, customer service and marina design/layout. After touring the site, including the yard, pontoons and facilities, the trainees retired to complete various exercises regarding marina management.
The BMF run a number of marina management courses throughout the year, suitable for various levels of marina employment. For more information, visit the British Marine Federation website or contact Amanda Simpson on 01784 223630 or email email@example.com.
