Systems Administrator

Here at Yacht Havens, we manage all our marinas using a software package we have written in-house and we’re really proud of it! We rollout regular updates to our group and now that it's grown, we’re looking for someone to join our team in order to support the delivery of our software across all sites in the Yacht Havens Group.

About Us:

Yacht Havens Group currently employs 175 staff across our locations in England, Scotland, Wales and the Netherlands. We predominantly operate within the marine leisure industry, owning and operating 9 marinas. But our diverse portfolio also includes several hospitality businesses as well as a range of commercial properties.

We opened our first marina in 1972 and fifty years later, the company remains family-owned and family-managed.

What you’ll be doing:

This role is about being the ‘face’ of our IT Development Team liaising with our marina teams.

We’re looking for someone who can work with our end users (our staff) and our IT team to identify efficiencies, understand user requirements and manage the workflow of our development team.

We’re looking for someone with great communication skills. You’ll be expected to summarise issues, report on the progress of projects, and host training sessions to provide guidance and support to our system users.

You’ll need to be a critical thinker; someone who can identify areas of efficiency, spot areas that address duplication of effort, or identify the requirements of users and liaise with developers. You’ll have the ability to make a real impact to the efficiency of our processes and ensure staff get full value from the systems they use.

You’ll be responsible for taking a leading role in these 3 areas:

  1. Training - You’ll create training resources and host regular training sessions for teaching our users about new features as they are released. In addition, you’ll travel around the sites within the group to provide in person training and discuss ongoing user requirements. You’ll also assist with the training and liaising with our key users at each site.
  2. Support - You’ll assist in the support of our software. This will include answering phone calls, providing either in person assistance or through remote screen sessions. When required you will raise bugs for the development team.
  3. Testing - You’ll participate in the testing of new features and also assist in the regular execution of our regression tests.

As well as working closely with the IT department, this role will also liaise regularly with staff from around the Group. This includes our Senior Administrators, Finance team, Marketing team as well staff in our businesses around the UK and the Netherlands.

Requirements:

  • We’re looking for a great communicator; someone who has the confidence to talk to our staff and understand how their jobs work, and their system requirements.
  • You’ll need to be a self-starter and self-motivator.
  • You’ll need to love dogs who have a part-ownership of our office space!
  • Knowledge of boats would be beneficial.
  • Previous experience in project management or IT system support would be beneficial.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Interest in finance and accounting would be beneficial.
  • Experience of using Office 365 would be beneficial.

This role is based at our Head Office in Lymington Yacht Haven. While we’re able to support occasional remote working, the role is primarily office-based, 5 days a week.

What we offer:

  • A stunning coastal office location.
  • A competitive salary. £23,000 - £30,000 per year DOE.
  • 31 days holiday including bank holidays.
  • Professional development and training opportunities.
  • Private healthcare.
  • Electric Car Scheme.
