Below is a copy of the correspondence we received from the local RNLI following our Sea Fair Weekend.
A very productive weekend!
"The Sea Safety RIB 'Evelyn M' was on the Haven Saturday and Monday, Sunday being lost due to poor weather, and visited several locations to speak to persons attending the SeaFair event.
The RIB Supervisor, Bryn Jones, was assisted by his wife Janet Jones and volunteers, Chris Guy, myself and my wife, Jeanette.
Over the two days we spoke to the crews of over 50 boats, giving advice on several subjects relating to safety such as MOB recovery, lifejackets etc.
We checked 28 lifejackets, several of which would not have worked and one was donated as an example of how not to look after a lifejacket! Whilst checking lifejackets we were invariably observed by several crew from that or other boats nearby, rafted or secure on the same pontoon, so we probably reached over 100 persons with our safety message. We spoke to several visitors to the event from foreign Countries, including France, Germany, Ireland and England.
We also assisted several persons ashore from their vessels, towed one vessel from Pembroke town pool down river to a point from which he could safely hoist sail and assisted one vessel aground at Neyland.
My thanks to all, particularly Milford Haven Marina and Neyland Yacht Haven for their kind assistance"
