Simon will discuss various elements involved with channel crossings including preperation, weather, tides, legalities, shipping lanes and much more. He'll also be taking audience questions throughout to dispell any myths or fears you may have!

Simon is currently a Director of SeaRegs Training, a Maritime Training Centre in Plymouth offering RYA and MCA qualifications to commercial and leisure marine users. He formally managed the Royal Yachting Association Yachtmaster programme for sail and motor vessels and the RYA navigation and safety courses. He has also authored several pilot guides and is a widely respected expert in the sailing industry. A former Technical Consultant for the marine press including Yachting Monthly, Motorboats and Yachting, Motorboats Monthly and many overseas titles, Simon still represents the UK and Europe on various committees on Marine Safety Equipment, safety course design as well as testing most of the current range of Lifesaving appliances both ashore and afloat. With over 28 years of seagoing experience, Simon has also authored a number of publications on topics including Motor Cruising, Commercial Regulations and Offshore Safety.
Plymouth Yacht Haven are planning a Cruise-in-company to St Peter Port, Guernsey, later in the summer. This talk will be perfect for wanting to take part in this trip or those wanting to take the crossing for the first time on their own.
