Rolex Fastnet Race Finish 2015

Fastnet 2013 - LW 018 Fastnet flag

16 August - 24 August 2013

Plymouth Yacht Haven has been selected as the host marina for the finish of the 2015 Rolex Fastnet Yacht Race, with the finishing yachts set to arrive in Plymouth between 18 and 22 August 2015.

The biennial Rolex Fastnet Race starts at in Cowes on 16 August with the yachts heading for the Fastnet rock off the Irish coast before finishing in Plymouth.

This race is on every sailor’s bucket list, and for good reason, as it challenges the mental and physical abilities of crews and the technical abilities of yachts. To complete this race is an achievement in itself!

2015 marks the 90th anniversary of the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC), organisers of the Race, and with it a record-sized fleet with as many as 350 boats is expected to take part in the RORC’s Rolex Fastnet Race.

Plymouth Yacht Haven is hosting the main Fastnet Race Village and the majority of finishing yachts. Competitors and visitors will be able to enjoy brand new, luxury washrooms and the elegant, on-site Bridge Bar & Restaurant.

Visitor passes will be available for members of the public to walk the pontoons to see the finishing boats, and entrance to the Race Village. There is free parking on the Mount Batten peninsula will be available in several council car parks. The 150-passenger Mount Batten Ferry will make the five-minute crossing to Plymouth's Barbican area throughout the day and evening, providing easy access for visitors and Fastnet competitors alike between the peninsula and the city's bars, restaurants and accommodation.

The peninsula is a popular year round leisure destination, offering dinghy sailing and canoeing activities at the Mount Batten Watersports Centre, marina life at Plymouth Yacht Haven, a classic promenade along the South West Coast Path, a choice of excellent lunch venues along the waterfront and the ferry crossing to the Barbican.
