John and Stella Dyer, long time berth holders here at Plymouth Yacht Haven, are currently 6 months into a 3-year circumnavigation on their Beneteau First 47.7, Exocet Strike. They set off with a very well equipped yacht with a vast inventory of spares and a new suit of sails, setting up the boat to make her easier to sail with a No 3 genoa and a fully battened main with stackpack.
Dyer had been running Exocet Strike as a skippered charter boat out of Plymouth Yacht Haven and had been planning this voyage since 2005, with access to all the boatyard services on-site which no doubt helped in the preparations.
In the May Issue of Yachting World (page 60), find out how the Dyer’s prepared for their trip.
We wish EXOCET STRIKE and her crew fair winds in 2015 and we hope that you will follow her epic journey too.
