One stop shop for winter boating

Winter at YHQ

Boating during the winter offers a unique experience. The peacefulness and freedom found in Plymouth waters over the winter will leave you crying out for another calm, sunny day where temperatures are circa 10°C!

The winter poses two common shore-based problems for boat owners; 1) winter protection and 2) winter maintenance.

Dry stacking for year-round protection

Dry Stacking provides a safe and cost-effective way to store your boat. In addition to hassle-free launch and recovery, dry stacking will also save you money on your boat maintenance. Discover more benefits of dry stacks.

Yacht Haven Quay is one of the only yards in Devon and Cornwall to offer both weekend lifting, and the opportunity to leave your boat on our deepwater waiting pontoons free of charge before a lift booked later the same week. We can handle yachts, powerboats and fishing craft of up to 45’ LOA and 12 tonnes.

Winter Storage & Maintenance

Once here, you’ll find all of the services on site that you might require this winter, including a choice of Marine Engineering, Boat Sales, Chandlery, Sail Repairs, Stainless Fabrication, RYA Training and much more.

We also offer competitive discounted storage rates to members of the Yealm and Plymouth Yacht Clubs, and the Mayflower Boatowners’ Association. Our launch dates are flexible, meaning that you’re not committed to a “launch day” as per many boatyards, and we can even return your boat to its mooring on your behalf if requested.

Yacht Haven Quay is easily accessible by road, being only 5 minutes from the A38 and on the main route into Plymouth from the South Hams. Find out exactly how to get here.
