Front End Software Developer, Yacht Havens Ltd, Lymington

A rare opportunity has come up to join Yacht Havens Ltd, a highly successful family company based at their Head Office in Lymington Yacht Haven, Hampshire, as a front end software developer working closely as a team to design our new marina software.

You will be experienced in Angular.js, Javascript, HTML5, SASS & CSS3 and be familiar with the MVC design pattern. You will have a good standard of education (see Job Spec below) and will almost certainly be a strong team player.

The working environment is relaxed and friendly and you will be able to handle a large amount of autonomous tasks whilst meeting deadlines. You will be a strong communicator and self-motivated with a high standard of work.

  • You’ll design, test and develop software for mobile and web in our agile design environment, ensuring that you utilise your experience and are challenged to learn new skills.
  • You’ll be a key part of the development team. You’ll regularly liaise with the back end team and project manager to ensure functional requirements are met.
  • You’ll adopt best development practices and will learn latest techniques.
  • You’ll work as both part of a team or autonomously on individual sprints / projects
  • You’ll advise in your ongoing training, let us know what you want to learn.
  • You’ll get the opportunity to travel to our sites.

Experience/Attributes/Education: 

  • Excellent English language skills both written and verbal.
  • Languages (Minimum): ES6, Html, Html5, CSS3, SASS
  • Libraries: AngularJs, Gulp, Bower
  • Other: MVC Design Patterns
  • Debugging in Google Chrome
  • Willingness and ability to adapt to and learn other packages.
  • Languages (Desired): Knowledge of SQL Server 2018 / Azure SQL
  • .NET 4.5.1
  • Azure Web Apps
  • Knowledge of Agile software methodology and use of BEM syntax
  • Experience with Git repositories
  • Experience with NodeJs
  • 2+ years industry experience preferred but not essential

Boatyard Assistant (Part-time, summer seasonal) @ Haven Quay, Lymington

We are looking for an enthusiastic and approachable Boatyard Assistant to join our team at the Lymington dry stack marina and boatyard, Haven Quay Lymington. You'll be tasked with assisting with yard duties and operations in a busy dry stack and boatyard as well as being a point of contact for our berth holders and visitors.

If you wish to have a career in the marine industry then this would be the perfect first step. You'll gain first hand insight into the day-to-day workings of a busy marine environment, as well as learning the intricate details and differences of a range of leisure and commercial craft.

This will include regular weekends and holiday cover, April to September.

You will need:

Haven Master @ Plymouth Yacht Haven

Plymouth's friendliest marina is looking for a Havenmaster to join its enthusiastic and professional team at this Five Gold Anchor Marina, situated at the picturesque Mount Batten peninsula. 

This role is critically important, as you will be the first point of contact for our 450 berth holders and hundreds of visiting vessels of all types throughout the year.

The successful candidate must have boat handling experience, as you will be assisting in boat berthing and manoeuvring, competent IT skills, and be able to multi task and prioritise your own workload in a busy and demanding environment. Excellent communication and organisation skills are a must, together with a flexible and ‘can do’ work ethic.

You will need:

  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • To be a reliable team player
  • To be able to work under pressure
  • To be organised and methodical
  • To maintain high levels of accuracy in administrative work
  • To be computer literate with a professional telephone manner
  • To be confident, outgoing and proactive, enabling you to present the benefits of our marina to potential new berth holders both face to face and on the telephone
  • To be prepared to work outdoors in all weathers
  • A full UK driving licence

VHF radio licence and RYA Power Boat II is an advantage but not essential when applying for this position.

Hours: 40 hours per week, in a rota system which includes alternate weekends.
