Largs RNLI hosted a Fish Supper and Bingo fundraising event at Largs Sailing Club on Saturday 17 February 2024 which saw volunteers arrive straight from a callout!

As the Largs RNLI volunteers were getting ready for an evening of fundraising fun their pagers sounded following several 999 calls being made to HM Coastguard regarding reports of a capsized sailing dinghy near to Largs Yacht Haven.

The volunteer crew quickly launched their Atlantic 85 lifeboat R. A. Wilson and made best speed to the location of the capsized dinghy.

On arrival it was quicky established the casualty was safe and well having made their own way to the shore. The volunteer crew spoke with the local Coastguard Rescue Officers on scene and the decision was taken that no additional casualty care was required.

Largs lifeboat was stood down and returned to the lifeboat station where it was cleaned, refuelled and made ready for service, allowing the volunteer crew to get to the fundraising evening on time.
