The Biosecurity for LIFE project is a four year EU funded partnership project between RSPB, National Trust and National Trust for Scotland. They're working on improving biosecurity on all 42 Special Protection Area offshore islands designated for breeding seabirds. In Wales this includes Puffin Island, the Skerries, Bardsey, Grassholm, Skomer, Skokholm and Middleholm.

They wish to educate all communities, including boaters, to ensure measures are taken to prevent invasive non-native mammalian predators such as rats getting to these amazing islands. Furthermore, they wish to increase surveillance so that if invasive species do reach these islands they don’t become established and cause harm to seabird populations.

There are quick and simple things that everybody can do to help and we want to raise awareness about these steps with the general public particularly water users.
