Who will I be working for?
We’re currently looking for a full-time Marina & Boatyard Operative to join us at Yacht Haven Quay, Plymouth. Part of the Yacht Haven Group, which has sites all over the UK and one in Holland, we pride ourselves on exceptional customer service. Yacht Haven Quay is home to a traditional boatyard and a state of the art “Dry Stack Marina” where you will be working with a friendly and experienced team, with the opportunity to train in a variety of skills, including the safe handling of boats both ashore and on the water.
The position:
We believe that our positive interaction with our customers is our biggest strength in the marketplace. You may have a hospitality or customer service background, and be looking to expand on this whilst enjoying the benefits of working in a varied role, outdoors, and by the water. Experience of working with boats and forklifts/cranes is useful but not essential; what’s most important to us is that you are positive, outgoing and friendly, and willing to learn new skills.
Full training will be given, so whether your background is hotels, restaurants, boats, engineering, craning or general machinery, you’ll be given plenty of support to develop your skillset
What will I be doing?
You’ll be dealing with our berth holders, visitors and customers on a daily basis; resolving issues, demonstrating a “can-do” attitude and generally enhancing their experience. This will be face to face and over the ‘phone. You’ll learn to operate 10 tonne capacity marine forklifts, mobile cranes, and hydraulic boatmovers. You’ll also be involved in machinery, plant and site maintenance, often outside and in all weathers. You need to enjoy new challenges and relish your adaptability!
Due to the nature of our business, regular weekend work is required with time off during the week in lieu.
What are the benefits?
Starting salary range of £24,000-£28,000 per annum, with pension and company healthcare scheme
31 days’ holiday per year, including bank holidays.
