Sailing tuition and charter
The best way to learn to sail or how to drive a motorboat, is to take an RYA-approved course. RYA Powerboat Level 2 courses and RYA Competent Crew courses teach how the basics of boating and help build your confidence on the water.
Alternatively, there are several ways to hire, or 'charter', a boat. You can choose a skippered option where your motorboat or sailing yacht comes with a skipper who will take you on the water and teach you while you sail. Alternatively, you can choose a 'bareboat' option where, subject to your experience and qualifications, you hire the boat to skipper it yourself.
Various companies in Fambridge provide these services which can be tailored to you, your group and your boating wishes!
Boating & fishing experiences
Onboard experiences are a wonderful way to see the River Crouch, as well as learning the basics of boating. You can cruise onboard classic boats, Thames Barges and other craft along the river, without the responsibility of skippering the boat.
Alternatively, fishing experiences vary from 1-2-1 tuition, to group trips. Skippers will take you to the best spots, on the right tide, with the right equipment. Tight lines!
For children aged 6-18, the 1st North Fambridge Sea Scout Group offers youngsters the chance to get on the water in a safe, controlled environment.
Based from their Water Activity Centre at the Yacht Haven, the Group offer rowing, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, swimming and much more. If it involves getting wet and having fun, it will be part of their programme!
Yacht Clubs & Racing
At the heart of our marina community are our yacht clubs. They play key roles in the smooth operations of races, providing the launch service for our swinging moorings, as well as a busy social programme of talks, quizzes and events.
