It’s official – Troon has been named the No. 1 place to live by the sea in The Times’ 25 Best Places to Live by the Sea list.

The annual list highlights coastal locations across the UK that offer the right mix of community, connections and things to enjoy throughout the year; not just during the summer months.

Writing about Troon, The Times highlighted its uncrowded beaches, beautiful sunsets and views across the Firth of Clyde, as well as its strong golfing heritage. With six courses in and around the town, including the world-famous Royal Troon, golf is understandably a big part of local life.

The town’s beaches also offer plenty to enjoy away from the fairways, with opportunities for walking, paddling, rock pooling and simply making the most of the coastline. Troon’s rail connections, including a journey of around 45 minutes to Glasgow, were also noted as part of its appeal for those looking to combine coastal living with easy access to the city.

For us at Troon Yacht Haven, it’s great to see the town receiving this recognition. We know from our berth holders and visitors just how much there is to enjoy around the waterfront, and it’s lovely to see Troon’s wider lifestyle being celebrated on a national stage.
