As part of a five-year dredging programme at Lymington Yacht Haven, pontoons M and N were successfully dredged during the early part of 2015 with Haven Quay Manager Ali Neal heavily involved with dredging operations.
The dredging restored both pontoon fairways and every berth to a minimum of 2.5m below Chart Datum. In addition, the busy areas at the marina entrance and in front of the hoist bay were dredged to maintain good depth.
Ali is a skilled dredging expert and operated the digging platform. Along with Lymington Yacht Haven's Head Engineer Chris Tyrrell, who helmed the dredging barge, the two experienced mariners worked with the tides to complete dredging over the winter of 2014/15.
Yacht Havens Group has a long history with dredging, especially in Lymington. In the 1960’s, Boskalis Dredging Group were originally commissioned to dredge a new marina in Lymington; the marina is still in the same family ownership today.
