Following the retirement of a key member of our Haven Team, we're recruiting a new Night Haven Master to join us at Plymouth Yacht Haven, a busy 450 berth marina.

This is more than just a job - it's an opportunity to be the friendly face and steady hand of the marina overnight.

A highly customer-focused role, the Night Haven Master is responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the marina overnight, ensuring our customers can fully enjoy all the facilities while keeping everything running seamlessly behind the scenes. It's no exaggeration to say that during the summer months, the night can be as busy as the day!

The role operates on a shift pattern from 7pm until 8am, currently 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off. We’re open to some flexibility in this arrangement to suit the right candidate and the wider team.

About Us

Plymouth Yacht Haven is a vibrant, full-service marina with 450 berths, extensive facilities, and a wide range of on-site marine services. At the heart of it all is a dedicated team, working around the clock to provide excellent service and ensure every customer enjoys a safe and enjoyable stay.

The Role

This critical role focuses on taking care of our visiting and resident yachts, their owners and crew, alongside fuel sales, site security and reception duties.

It is a customer-facing position, often the first point of contact for our 450 berth holders and visiting boats. You’ll need to be confident, personable and able to make a great first impression, with strong communication skills and a flexible ‘can do’ approach.

We're looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

  • Knowledge of boats and marinas
  • An approachable, friendly and helpful demeanour
  • Experience of customer care
  • A positive, proactive attitude
  • A willingness to work outdoors in all weathers
  • Comfortable working independently, often as a lone worker
  • A good standard of general education

In return

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience, reflective of the role's importance and responsibility.
  • Company pension scheme.
  • Healthcare insurance.
  • Electric car scheme and Cycle To Work scheme.
  • Training opportunities.
  • Enjoy the flexibility of shift pattern working, plus a generous 248 hours’ annual leave (including bank holidays), equivalent to 19 shifts.
