Plymouth Yacht Haven along with Yacht Haven Quay is proud to have sponsored the Plym Yacht Club Friday Series, bringing a summer of competitive evening racing on Plymouth Sound to a close.
With 22 boats competing across the YTC and IRC fleets, the series delivered close finishes, fiercely contested results and a fantastic showcase of Plymouth’s sailing community.

Close Racing Across Both Fleets
The YTC fleet saw seven of its 11 entries achieve at least one top-three finish. John Lewis's Squib, Bootneck, secured the overall YTC series, while Kevin Palfreeman and Anthony Kehoe's Zulu took the third-series victory on countback, with both boats finishing on nine points. Roger Stanbury's Impala completed the top three.
In IRC, Dominic Hanley's Stitch claimed the third-series victory and the coveted Plymouth Sound Cup. After a competitive series, Stitch finished on seven points, ahead of Robbie Boalch's Crescendo and Stig McDonald's Melges 24, Haku, who were separated by countback. One race saw four boats finish within just 12 seconds on corrected time.

Looking Ahead to 2027
The series continues to attract a diverse fleet, from Squibs to a Corby 35, with potential new arrivals including a JPK, another Cork 1720 and additional boats in the YTC fleet promising even more competition next season.
With the summer series complete, attention now turns to the Shopfitting by SWS Autumn Series, where new entries are expected to keep the racing exciting.
As proud sponsors, Yacht Havens congratulates all competitors and thanks the volunteers and organisers who make the series possible, along with Kevin and Louisa for their much-loved post-race sailing suppers.
We look forward to supporting another season of exciting racing and community spirit on Plymouth Sound in 2027.
