Plymouth Regatta is fast becoming one of the South West's favourite regattas.
For racers, sailing in the Plymouth waters is hard to beat. Inside Plymouth Sound provides flatter waters but with hills surrounding this playground, racers are kept on their toes by plenty of wind shifts. Outside of Plymouth Sound has a racing area with minimal tidal influences but rougher seas which have built from the Atlantic Ocean.
There is a new formula for the event this year with fleets and courses being set for each handicap system - You choose which one you want to race in.
The Port of Plymouth Sailing Association thank the RNSA, Plym and Royal Western Yacht Clubs and Plymouth Yacht Haven for their support of the regatta.
The hosts for the Regatta, Royal Western Yacht Club in conjunction with the Port of Plymouth Sailing Association, describe their event as 'The Yachtsman's Regatta'; which is hard to disagree with!
Friday 14th - Chris Moyse Memorial Pursuit Race & Paella Party
Many of us were fortunate enough to know Chris, who sadly passed away far too soon. He is missed not only for his contributions to the local sailing and rowing communities, but also for being a warm, kind human being with the most infectious laugh that you could not resist joining in with.
Saturday 15th - Regatta Racing & live music
After early morning breakfast rolls, we'll head into the Sound for some regatta racing. Racing is open to all yachts with the White Sail Class specifically designed for cruising boats who don't normally race. Entry is open!
Sunday 16th - Regatta Racing & Prizegiving
After a final day of fleet racing and White Sail cruiser racing, the Regatta wraps up with prizegiving.
More information on Plymouth Regatta Week will be published near the time of the event on the Plymouth Regatta website
