From April to September every Thursday evening, the Western Solent becomes a hive of activity while one of the UK's most popular weekly racing series takes place.
The Thursday Evening Keelboat Race Series, or 'Thursday Night Racing' as it’s simply known, typically brings together some 90 - 100 yachts each week. Split into an Early Series (April-June), Late Series (June to August) and Late Late Series (September), racing is open to all IRC and Lymington Handicap-rated keelboats and organised by the Royal Lymington Yacht Club, sponsored by Spencers New Forest. Boats range from Folkboats and J80s, to a Swan 45 and Spirit 52.
Prizegiving takes place in the bar and restaurant at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club after each evening’s racing, and is well attended and great fun! The Royal Lymington Yacht Club extends a warm welcome to owners and crews of competing yachts and invites them to become temporary members for each Thursday Night race event.
