Folkboat Week 2025
Lymington Yacht Haven was delighted to sponsor the 60th edition of Folkboat Week, an unforgettable celebration that brought record numbers to the water and delivered some of the most exciting racing in the event’s history. With 52 Folkboats taking part, this year marked the largest entry ever, a true testament to the strength and spirit of this iconic regatta.
The week began with the Walcon Cup international team race for the Nordic class. Traditionally dominated by Danish teams since Eric Andreason’s first victory in 1989, the cup was claimed for the very first time by a British team – Gybe’N Swan – followed closely by Team Hamble Challengers. We were especially honoured to welcome Team Geppeline from Denmark and to have Eric himself present the trophy on this landmark occasion.
Celebrations continued ashore with a lively 60th anniversary party at the Royal Solent Yacht Club, where an honours board was unveiled to commemorate 60 years of winners and over 1,800 competing Folkboats across the event’s remarkable history.
On the water, the competition was just as thrilling. The Classic fleet, with 16 entries, produced exceptionally close racing, with Kingdom Come taking victory on countback ahead of Folkdance. Meanwhile, the Nordic fleet came down to a final-race decider, with Team Madelaine emerging as champions, followed by Crackerjack and Gybe’N.
Beyond the racing, the camaraderie on the pontoons and the après-sail gatherings made the event truly special. We join the Folkboat Association in thanking David and Theresa Fox for their tireless efforts, Scott and his harbour team for their outstanding support, and the Royal Solent Yacht Club for delivering first-class racing and hospitality.
At Lymington Yacht Haven, we are proud to continue supporting this historic event alongside Walcon Marine, Baker Marine and Harken. Folkboat Week continues to grow year on year, and we look forward to welcoming even more boats and sailors for an even bigger celebration next year.
