Countdown to Burnham Week 2016

Burnham Week 2016 - G.Sweeney Burnham Week 2016 - G.Sweeney 1

15 August 2016

Planning is in place for a fun and challenging Burnham Week Regatta for you all to enjoy. Prices have remained the same and entries are already coming in for all the classes which include Multihull, IRC, Classes 5 and 6, RS Elites, Dragons, Hunter 707, Squibs, RBODS and RCODS.  Dinghy racing over the Bank Holiday Week will include Phantoms, Ospreys and fast/slow dinghies. We are also preparing to add an extra local dinghy event on the final Saturday and hoping for about 40 boats to be on the water.

27th August - 3rd September 2016

The website is up and running and ready to take your entries www.burnhamweek.com so please don’t delay there are so many Trophies up for grabs. The Burnham Week Office will be in the Royal Corinthian YC and open from 12 noon on Friday 26 August for you to collect your race packs. Notice Of Race and Sailing Instructions can be found on the website too.

Once again, Fambridge Yacht Haven are proud sponsors of the event with a special association with the dinghy regatta.

Over the Bank Holiday weekend there are other events organised by the GIG Association and Town Council to ensure it is a vibrant time.

Early evening on Sunday the RNLI Lifeboat Blessing will take place outside the White Harte and also on Sunday and Monday GIG racing will be taking place in view of the Quay Side and if all comes together they are expecting a large entry both days.  On the Bank Holiday Monday from 12noon to 1600 the Annual Quay Day will take place featuring stalls, children’s entertainment, bands, and some food stalls.  However Burnham is famous for its many Public Houses which will be joining in the Pirate Theme and serving refreshments.  Most of the Clubs will also be open to the public so it promises to be a really good day.

The Town Cup will be contested on the final Saturday – always a good spectacle and then the regatta rounds off with a Firework Display to be viewed from the Quayside at dusk.

2017 will be the 125th Anniversary of Burnham Week – and we are planning ahead for some special events to support the regatta.  Maybe time to pop the dates into your diary Saturday 26th August to Saaturday 2nd September 2017.
