Largs supports Scottish P1 racing boat

30 May 2016

The P1 Superstock Scottish Grand Prix Of The Sea promises to be one of the most exciting and biggest marine events in Scotland in 2016. And Largs Yacht Haven are proud to sponsor one of the race competitors!

Largs-based business owner and enthusiastic powerboat racer Dino Zavaroni skippers Spirit Of Inverclyde, the Scottish entrant in the 2016 P1 Superstock series. As home favourite, the boat will have the support of the entire Scottish audience including First Minister Nicola Sturgeon (see image gallery below) who helped launch the boat earlier this year.

However on a day-to-day basis, Dino owns and operates DDZ Marine, a boat sales and service centre based at Largs Yacht Haven serving the boating community for over thirty years. With Dino's links to Largs and a large audience expected on the shore in Greenock and watching live on television, Marina Director Carolyn Elder was delighted to offer sponsorship to the race team - "Dino is a popular member of the Largs community, and has been a long-standing customer and friend of Largs Yacht Haven. We've seen the boat being built and developed in the boatyard at Largs over the past 3 months, as well as launching the boat frequently so Dino and co-pilot Gordon Wicklow can test the boat in the water. We're delighted to offer sponsorship to the team and we wish them well in the upcoming Grand Prix"

Like DDZ Marine, customers at Largs Yacht Haven benefit from boat lifting 7 days a week, 24-hour on-water petrol and sheltered pontoon berthing on the Firth of Clyde. Find out more about the facilities at Largs

You can see the Spirit of Inverclyde in action at the P1 Superstock Scottish Grand Prix Of The Sea on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th June in Greenock. The event will be a stunning spectacle with visitors able to watch the event for free from the shore, or close-up on the water. The racing will also be broadcasted by Sky Sports on television.
