We're delighted to welcome Natasha Lambert and her sailing yacht Miss Isle to Largs as part of her incredible Scottish Cruise & 2016 Challenge dubbed "Sea and Summit Scotland"!
Natasha, from the Isle of Wight, has cerebral palsy which affects her limbs and speech. But this has not stopped her undertaking a series of incredible challenges, the latest of which has brought her to Scotland! Starting 2 weeks ago, Natasha planned to sail from Inverness to Greenock while breaking off to climb Mount CairnGorm, the UK's 6th highest mountain!
Her 21ft yacht is specially adapted to Natasha can control the boat by mouth via a single straw. In preparation for the Sea and Summit Scotland, Natasha has already completed a 100 mile walk, taking 52 days to complete!
Having sailed through Loch Ness, Natasha successfully climbed CairnGorm Mountain reaching the 1,245m peak after nearly 6 hours of trekking! From here, Natasha and Miss Isle passed through the Caledonian Canal including Neptune's Staircase, a flight of 8 locks. After some stunning sailing through the Firth of Lorn and Sound of Jura, Miss Isle safely arrived in Largs where she'll rest for a few days before completing her journey to Glasgow.
Natasha is raising funds for the Miss Isle School of Sip-Puff Sailing.
On behalf of everyone at Largs Yacht Haven, we wish Natasha the very best of luck in the remainder of her challenge - it was a pleasure to meet you and your family/team!
