The new Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust boat has arrived at her new home in Largs after being unveiled at Southampton Boat Show.
The 2nd boat in the EMCT fleet, a Beneteau 45, arrived in Largs after sailing from Southampton where she was officially handed over to Dame Ellen MacArthur and the Trust. The boat comes after the EMCT was awarded £200,000 from the People's Postcode Lottery in January 2016 allowing them to purchase a yacht to be permanently based at their Scottish home.
Key modifications have taken place on the yacht to ensure it meets the requirements of sailors from Northern England and Scotland. This includes extra hand rails and alterations in the cabin space to make a more accessible social area for the sailors.
The boat will now winter in Largs before conducting trips the Yacht Haven in Spring 2017.
