The Eddystone Charity Sailing Pursuit takes place this Saturday 21st June. A fantastic fundraising event that raises thousands of pounds for various charities that 'benefit the human condition'.
The event starts at 8am at Plymouth Sound, chases to the south west of the Eddystone Light and back again. A whopping 26 mile marathon. The last boats make it home at 5pm ready for the prize giving ceremony that takes place at the National Marine Aquarium. The prize money this year stands at £16,500!!
The Eddystone Pursuit was set up in 1995 by a Plymouth Yacht Haven berth holder Julia Creeke in memory of her mother, Eleanor Creeke. The Eleanor Creeke Charitable settlement is the major sponsor of this event and donates the annual prize fund which, in addition to the sponsorship has generated a total sum in excess of a third of a million pounds for good causes.
