Hundreds of sailors, families, marine enthusiasts and members of the public flocked to the River Crouch for the first ever Fambridge Yacht Haven River Festival.
The one-day event celebrated the famous River Crouch with activities on and off the water.
Visitors were given guided tours of Thames Sailing Barges, sailing Smacks and the Vic 96 steam powered barge. The RNLI Sea Safety Clinic gave free-of-charge lifejacket inspections and the HM Coastguard team were also on hand displaying their latest equipment.
Gig Racing on the river was well attended by teams from all over the east coast. With the finishing line just metres from the pontoons, racing was competitive with crowds cheering from the shore. The Old Gaffers Association proudly displayed their fleet with racing on the river and fully-dressed boats on the pontoons.
Live music on the Fambridge Yacht Haven float along with BBQ and drinks at the Ferry Boat Inn and The Clubhouse Cafe added to the atmosphere.
The highlight for most families was the rubber duck race and treasure hunt which encouraged children to explore the boats and shoreside stands. The duck race also raised £162 for the Burnham-on-Crouch RNLI.

Fambridge Yacht Haven extend their warm thanks to all those who took part, organised and visited you all in 2016!
"What a great day at the River Festival. Lots going on, lots of visitors, weather was kind to us. We, Society for Sailing Barge Research, signed up new members and sold lots of barge books, and had a really happy time. Add the racing on the river (including the ducks!) and large number of boats open to visitors. A lovely informal atmosphere. Well done to you all for organising it."
"Superb day. Lots to do for the whole family, and some stunning barges to browse"
"A great turn out and loads going on at the Fambridge Yacht Haven Crouch River Festival."
