One of the oldest and most prestigious yacht clubs in the world will visit Fambridge Yacht Haven in June as part of a week-long cruise of the River Thames and the East Coast.
The Royal Yacht Squadron (RYS), based in Cowes, was founded in 1815 and has Queen Elizabeth II as club patron and Prince Philip as the club's Admiral. The preeminent club are highly-regarded around the world for their history, prestige, stunning clubhouse in Cowes and their relationship with the original America’s Cup.
As part of their busy schedule of rallies and regattas, the club will assemble at North Fambridge Yacht Club for drinks, dinner and an overnight stay at Fambridge Yacht Haven before continuing their cruise to the River Roach and up the east coast.
If you’re sailing near Fambridge in mid-June, keep an eye out for the RYS sailing in our waters! You’ll recognise the fleet from their naval White Ensign and their triangular burgee with St George’s Cross and a crown.
