The two 'Sail 4 Macmillan' boats have completed their 2019 Round Britain trip, arriving back in Fambridge to rapturous applause.
The 7 week adventure, organised by Premier Sailing, took two yachts up England and Scotland's east coast before crossing Scotland through the Caledonian Canal. Heading south past the Scottish west coast, the yachts stopped at Largs Yacht Haven before a crew change at Troon Yacht Haven. Continuing south, the yachts made good progress to Neyland Yacht Haven in Pembrokeshire before they reached a major milestone at Plymouth Yacht Haven. Here, the crews held a Macmillan Charity lunch with more donations to the vital work at Macmillan Cancer Support.
The final leg saw the yachts sail along the south coast, stopping at Lymington Yacht Haven, before crossing the finish line at Fambridge. The crews were welcomed ashore by loved ones with a BBQ, local market stalls and a charity auction raising a further £800 bringing their 2019 fundraising total to over £5,000.
Yacht Havens have proudly supported the Sail 4 Macmillan adventure for the past four years providing over 100 nights of complementary berthing as well as logistical support and charitable donations. Over that period, the Sail 4 Macmillan adventure has raised over £25,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
