In the summer of 2016, First Class Sailing, who are based at Fambridge Yacht Haven, are sailing one of their training yachts around Britain via the world famous and picturesque Caledonian Canal visiting six of Yacht Havens' marinas in the process.

Sailing School Principal Colin Stracey commented, "Most of us will come into contact with cancer at some time in our lives and Macmillan, as many of us know, are there to help and support both the patient and their family. It is our personal experience of the superb care and support provided by Macmillan that has lead us to run this trip."

The yacht leaves Fambridge Yacht Haven in May 2016 heading north along the east coast to Newcastle and up to Inverness. After passing through the Caledonian Canal, the yacht will stop at Largs Yacht Haven and Troon Yacht Haven while heading south through the Clyde Estuary. After leaving Scottish waters, the boat continues south along the west coast of England and Wales stopping at Neyland Yacht Haven in Pembrokeshire before rounding Land's End in mid-June. After a stop in Plymouth Yacht Haven, boat boat heads east along the south coast stopping at various shelters including Lymington Yacht Haven before returning to Fambridge for a warm welcome from Yacht Haven staff in late-June.

Yacht Havens and Quay Marinas, who are also supplying at least one berthing location for the team, have agreed to support Macmillan by holding a fundraising event on the day that the yacht is passing through.

Places are available for people wanting to join the trip and, with no previous sailing experience required, the trip promises to be an unforgettable experience. The voyage is broken down into seven separate legs of six days each with every section offering something different and unique such as the wildlife of the Farne Islands or the hustle and bustle of the Solent. Individuals can sign up for just one six day trip or for the whole seven weeks.
