Lymington’s Wednesday Junior Sailing programme celebrated its 30th anniversary this week, with a well attended prize giving ceremony at the Royal Lymington Yacht Club.
Over 2,000 children have attended the scheme this season with weekly tuition available on a variety of dinghies.
Lymington Yacht Haven continues to support the event with a yearly sponsorship to fund the instructors, equipment and prizes. Rupert Wagstaff, Director at Lymington Yacht Haven, was the honorary presenter at the prize giving ceremony which celebrated the programme's 30th year.
Top prize for the evening was the Jolly Rogers Trophy which was awarded to 16 year old Simeon Hargrave. The trophy is awarded to the sailor the best all-rounder with Simeon being acknowledged for his excellent role model for the younger sailors.
Wednesday Junior Sailing (WJS) will return in April 2015. For further information or to get involved, visit the Royal Lymington Yacht Club website or contact Alison Husband, the Head of the WJS.
