Boating in October – Why is it so often overlooked?
Lymington Yacht Haven in October is normally the time of year when winter bookings are made and boat owners begin their annual pack up before going into hibernation until the following spring!
But we attempted to change that cycle this year with an autumn cruise to Newtown Creek for berth holders.
Over 40 annual berth holders braved the 15-20knot forecast and congregated on the visitor moorings in Newtown Creek after cruising from Lymington. With the Yacht Havens RIB on hand (appropriately named, "Thank Havens"), boaters were shuttled ashore and met with Sloe Royale cocktails on the quayside!
After a pleasant walk along the creek, we settled down with new friends for a hearty lunch of pies at the excellent New Inn pub at Shalfleet.
Back on the water, boaters were shuttled back to their boats before heading back to the Yacht Haven.
A big thank you to everyone who came - Look out for our cruises in 2018!
