Our second Safety & Marine Demo Day was graced by a range of industry experts who provided advice and emergency equipment demonstrations to boat owners.
With morning fog ensuring boaters stayed ashore, the Safety Day was well-attended with HM Coastguard and the RNLI Community Safety teams providing useful advice and information, as well as lifejacket servicing and checks.
The demonstrations were kicked off by Ocean Safety, one of the industry's leading voices and suppliers of safety equipment, who demonstrated how Jon Buoys and life rafts and used.
Next up was Aquasafe, a Lymington-based RYA training centre, who demonstrated emergency CPR and defibrillator usage. They then went on to provide live flare demonstrations followed by one of the most popular demonstrations of the day - Man Overboard recovery from a RIB
Nick Cox Chandlery, the Yacht Haven-based chandlery and convenience store, provided useful information and advice about EPIRBs.
HM Coastguard then gave a shoreside talk about their operations as well as presenting their mud rescue gear and water rescue equipment.
Engineers Ropewalk Lymington provided safety advice on a range of common engineering issues as well and providing tips on engine maintenance.
Thank you to everyone who attended. The Yacht Haven team organise this free event for the benefit of all boat owners and boating enthusiasts - so if you'd like to see different demonstrations next time, then please let us know!
