In May 2019, Matt Toms from Haven Quay Lymington will be cycling the length and breadth of the UK from John O'Groats right down to Land's End via Essex and Pembrokeshire! Along the way, Matt will be visiting all 8 of Yacht Havens' UK marinas, boatyards and dry stacks, averaging 100 miles per day over 16 days.
Matt will be doing this mainly unassisted and carrying all his other kit with him on the bike.
Matt explains: "Multiple members of my own family have won and lost battles with 'the big C' and it seems that everyone you speak to knows someone that has been affected by this disease. If there is anything we can do to try and come up with a cure for it then I think we should."
I am taking over two weeks off of work to do this and am having to go through more training than I have ever done. I would urge you to give, as much or as little as you can, for this great cause. I will be literally putting my body on the line, pushing it to a point it has never gone before, all for this amazing cause, and I hope you can give a little bit in return."
Matt will cycle 1500 in 16 days from John O'Groats to Land's End while visiting all 8 of Yacht Havens' marinas around Scotland, England and Wales. Along the way, we will be holding pop-up fundraising events will be taking place at various locations.
The Bosun Bikes Britain Challenge will start on Monday 6th May 2019.
